PRINCIPAL'S SABBATICAL

As this is his 20th year of leading the ministry of SLCC, the Founder and Principal, Rev Femi Olowo, is currently on a a well-deserved sabbatical. This will be for 8 months from April until November 2010. During this time, as well as doing some background project work for SLCC, he is working on completing some personal research and is also likely to be serving as a visiting lecturer for a short time in a theological seminary in Africa. During his absence, Dr David Curtis has been serving as Acting Principal. Despite the minor hiccups, all is continuing to run smoothly during this crucial period in the life of the college.

10 MARCH 2010 - PROPHET RON JOLLIFF

The undergraduate students had a day of teaching on flowing in the prophetic led by Prophets Ron and Jane Jolliff from Columbus, Ohio, USA. Many students were activated in prophecy for the first time, and it was a real time of learning about spiritual dynamics. The ministry of the Jolliffs is under that of the noted Prophet Bill Hamon of Christian International, USA, so they came to us very well recommended.

27 APRIL TO 4 MAY 2010 - ISRAEL TOUR

A group of staff and excited students recently returned from an inspirational 8-day tour of Israel which lasted from 27 April to 4 May. Thankfully we had changed the date from the week before that, as our previously scheduled week of 19 April departure was the week the Volcanic Ash Cloud from Iceland grounded all UK flights for the entire week. Arriving in Tel-Aviv, the team travelled to Jezreel Valley near Nazareth and stayed in a Jewish Kibbutz for 3 nights. We toured many of all the biblical sites in Nazareth and Galilee and had a baptismal service in the River Jordan. It certainly made the Bible come alive!

We then relocated to Jerusalem and stayed in a lovely hotel with a picturesque view at the top of one of the many city mountains. We toured the Old City of Jerusalem and many of the Jerusalem biblical sites. We stood on the Mount of Olives, entered the city through Mount Zion, prayed at both the Wailing Wall and in the Upper Room, visited Golgotha and had communion in the Garden Tomb. Then we journeyed south into the desert past Ein Gedi Cave (where David his from Saul), visited Masada stronghold and had a swim (or 'float') in the Dead Sea. On Sabbath (Saturday), we attended a Messianic Jewish church service in Jerusalem and had a wonderful time. And throughout the trip, our Jewish tour guide was most excellent.

Usual highlights in the north include Nazareth, Nazareth Basilica, Jewish Synagogue in Zefat, Boat Trip on the Sea of Galilee, Mount Carmel, Caesarea, Jezreel Valley, Tiberias, Golan Heights, Mount of Beatitudes, Capernaum the Town of Jesus, Baptism in River Jordan, Megiddo ("Armageddon"). Highlights to the centre and south include Jerusalem, Tour of the Old City, The Wailing Wall, Mount Zion, Mount of Olives, Garden of Gethsemane, Prayer in the Upper Room, Church of the Holy Sepulchre at Golgotha, Communion in the Garden Tomb, Qumran, En Gedi ("David's Stronghold"), Swim in the Dead Sea, Masada, Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum, Birthplace of John the Baptism and the Tabernacle in the Wilderness.

Trip to the Holy Land

We invite interested travellers to join us on the next Israel trip in April 2012 but you do need to book at least 6 months in advance! This trip is guaranteed to be exciting, life-changing, educational and spiritually uplifting just like we experienced. It is an experience of a lifetime not to be missed! It is an opportunity to see the Holy Land where it all happened. If interested, contact the college for details.

11 MAY 2010 - CSW PRESENTATION

Christian Solidarity Worldwide came to share with our students about their front line global work for the persecuted church on the morning of 11 May. As an advocacy organisation, CSW aims to influence governments and other bodies on religious freedom issues to ensure that the voice of the persecuted is heard in the international arena. The students really learned a lot. Their hearts were touched by the indepth presentation and they now know how better to pray for our unfair world.

ORDINATION OF SLCC GRADUATES

Every year, a handful of our students who have proved their ministries are approved as candidates for ordination into Christian ministry. This is done under the auspices of JIMA, our ministers association. Those ordained recently include Rev Moyela Lewis (Sovereign Kingdom International Ministries, 10 January 2009), Rev Enoch Tettey (Faith House Ministries, 5 July 2009) and Rev Dorcas Ellu (Mitcham Baptist Church, 15 November 2009). Ordination is open to non-students as well so long as they can satisfy our criteria for legitimate Christian ministry. See 'Ministerial Association' in this website. You can request a JIMA Ordination Brochure and an Application from jubileeinter@aol.com
