By UK Law, degrees can only be awarded by a university, preferably a British one. These degrees can be offered through independent colleges like SLCC, as long as they have some kind of arrangement, partnership, accreditation or validation agreement with the university. However certificate and diploma awards do not need to come from a university.
British University Degrees
BTh - We offer tuition for the Mattersey Hall Advanced Diploma in Theology and Christian Ministry. Students on this course are also able to register directly through Mattersey Hall for the distance learning BTh degree, validated by a major British university, and work for their BTh at the same time. Please contact SLCC for further guidance on this.
DMin – We offer students the ability to enrol on a UK university validated Doctor of Ministry (DMin) provided in association with Mattersey Hall College. This programme is combined with our full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Research. In addition to enrolling with us, students will also be required to enrol with the university via our affiliation with Mattersey Hall College. We will advise students on the procedure for this.

Non-University Awards
CPCAB – Our counselling Certificates (Levels 2 and 3) are awarded by the Counselling and Psychotherapy Central Awarding Body (CPCAB). We offer these programmes in partnership with Barnarbas Training International (formerly BTC), the leading provider for Christian counselling training in the UK.
OCN – Our counselling Diploma (Level 4) is likely to be the Open College Network (OCN) award in partnership with Barnabas Training International (formerly BTC). The decision to deliver this programme for the first time from 2009 or 2010 will depend on a number of factors including if we have an adequate enrolment for it.
ACC – Our college is registered with the Association of Christian Counsellors (ACC) and all our counselling awards are approved and accredited by ACC.
College Awards – We offer a number of Certificate and Diploma programmes which only have internal college awards. Most of these are specialist Christian ministry courses, and we have not yet found the most suitable external awarding body. They however remain valid on the strength of the quality of the programme and our quality assurance standards.
